Schools out!

Down side: Test starting on Monday
Up side: No more English class for three months! :D

It's hard to describe the sheer blandness of English class, to describe the voice of my teacher Ms. Howlin, only to say that if she were the one reading this to you you'd be deeply asleep. I sometimes forget I've even been in an English class.

And so we turn to tests (hopeful grades in brackets), English (B) itself is up first on Monday, for which study will not be needed, just a quick read over of apparently Nobel-prize winning poetry. Then to Music, Irish and DCG (B,B,A), Chemistry (A), Construction and Physics (A and A), and last day for Maths (another A). My test schedule has actually worked out fantastically, as anything I need to study for is on a solitary day. So hopes are high, yet I should probably be studying instead of blogging. Ah well.

Anyone willing to over me a job for the Summer?

Over and out.

Doctor Who as of Season 6 Episode 4

Well it seems as if the writers of Doctor Who have finally admitted it. Who was always on the extremely soft side of the sci-fi scale, but as of this season it seems to have finally come out of the closet as a fantasy show. The plot devices and regular Doctor Who Deus ex Machinae have gone beyond the boundaries of sci-fi and into the more forgiving realm of space-fantasy.

Yes, the aliens are still there, the time-travel's still there, but the contrived science behind the show is getting increasingly far-fetched. Nurse-mermaids entering from parallel universes due to a simple reflection? What happened to the TARDIS nearly dying when the Doctor last tried to cross parallels? Or the fact that David Tennant sealed them off?

Don't get me wrong, I still love the show, and Matt Smith is fantastically filling the considerably large boots left behind by Tennant. Like Tennant, he seems to have a dark, nasty side underneath the mountain of quirks. He's the college professor everyone craves, and the ADHD kid everyone loves, all wrapped into one; topped off of course with a lavish helping of good ol' British cheese.

The season has started off fantasically with the two-part Silence episode (yes, Moffet has added more reasons not to sleep at night), I felt the pirate episode to be a bit of a lull, but Neil Gaiman's 'The Doctor's Wife' was a fantasic episode, as required by now from an amazing writer.

We expectantly await more.

Over and out.

I'm so, so sorry. And I won't do it again. Maybe.

*looks at feet*
I may have left you in a rush of excitement for the glitz and glam of YouTube and vlogging, and I'm quite guilty about that, so I've returned here, tail between between my legs, as I'm having trouble making vlogs due to hardware failure...

I think I left due to the pressure of 2-3 blogs a week, and the closing in schedule of school work, but as of next week I'm officially off school for the summer! I hope to bring a schedule of about 2 blogs a week, 1 a blog, the other a review of movies/games/tv. And if my webcam gets fixed I'll try not to leave you again...

Forgive me?

Over and out.

p.s. I also intend to start a cricket blog for the English cricket season if anyone's interested.

Along Came a Vlog

Close followers may have noticed I recently started a vlog (to be updated haphazardly, much like this). It's an interesting experiment I decided to perform, and it turns out I quite like it.
You can find my channel here

The first thing you need to know about vlogging is that it can be quite difficult, and most of the time you feel like a whack-job talking to yourself in your room, the camera doesn't respond, and you often find yourself watching the screen to see how you're doing, which leads to a horrendous number of retakes, which leads to my second point of difficulty; the time. The two and a half minutes of my first vlog took roughly 90 minutes to film over the course of a day, with most of the time wasted sitting there trying to remember what you were going to say, scripting it in your head, and then messing it up when it comes to actually filming it.

The third problem is the sheer need for content, between my blog and vlog I'm going to start leading a more interesting life to find some interesting things to put out there, but hopefully they'll come along.

And now that I understand the difficulty of undertaking such a project, I must lead you to my friends over at The Indefinite Collab, who are really starting to get into their stride, and also, Harry (aka thescrotbag) who, in relation to my last post, is doing a Minecraft Let's Play.

Vlog should be up either tonight (March 7th) or tomorrow (March 8th), I start recording last Thursday, and have been bogged down with concert rehearsals since... You might notice a slight transition in clothing halfway through :L

Issue #2 of the comic should be here within the next few days, if Hannah ever gets around to it :P

Til then;
Over and out.

The Problem With Minecraft

If you haven't at least heard of this game yet then either you're the type of person who thinks the X-Factor produces talent, or you've recently awoken from a coma inside the last two hours.

Minecraft is an open-world experience that is akin to owning every Lego block in existence, in which zombies occasionally show up, there is no story, plot or dialogue, just you, your tools and a whole lotta dirt.

The problem with this open-endedness however is that you have to set your own goals, and when someone comes up with a good goal, they'll keep playing until they've accomplished it... Even if it takes 12 hours... Minecraft is a ridiculously addictive game that just eats up so much time without you noticing, it's addictiveness lies in it's simplicity and immersivness, without cutscenes, drama or much music you don't always notice that it's just a game...

You start off in at your spawn point on a completely randomly generated map,  you can collect wood by chopping it down with your bare hand, create planks from the wood, craft a workbench, craft a wooden pick, mine some stone, craft a stone pick, mine some coal, craft some torches and then huddle down in your hastily dug cave for the night and cry til all the monsters go away. Before you know it five hours have passed and you're putting the finishing touches to your humongous fort.

If you want to start playing then you can download the game officially from the site (which I'm not bothered inserting a link for) or you can download it illegally (which I'm so not condoning... :L)

Also check out some Let's Plays on YouTube, especially SeaNanners, Yogscast, and X.

Til next time,
Over and out.

Issue #1 - Don't Ask

So this is Issue #1 of our new comic strip, which will be updated fairly irregularly, but hopefully once a week. Any writings accompanying these strips will be short and sweet.

You may have noted over the course of my blog that I posess a certain affection (read obsession) for Batman, this strip homages the quirk that his (and most other mask wearing hero's) eyes are never seen when they pull on the mask, only a white sheen.

Much thanks to Hannah Deacon for the artwork.
 Over and Out.

I'm Baaaaacck!

Most sincere apologies for my absence, two months... Jesus... I blame a lack of inspiration...

Anyway, my return to the blogosphere is joined by a new Twitter account, so lets see how that goes.
I'm also starting a new comic, which will be uploaded here whenever I feel like it. Writing credits to myself, and fantastic artistry to Hannah Deacon. Should be up soon.

Again, most sincere apologies, I won't do it again :P
Over and Out. (I missed being able to say that... :L)
